Terms and Conditions
REcreative is a website owned by South London Gallery (“SLG”). The SLG is a registered charity, which you can read more about that at the end of these T&Cs.
When you join the REcreative website and upload work to the website, you agree that you are 16 years old or over. If you’re not 16 or older then unfortunately you can’t use the website.
This is because REcreative is a public space, which means that anyone can access it, and we want content created by the community to go live immediately. This means that to make the website safe for everyone we need to restrict the age for the community parts of the site. We’re sorry if this causes any frustration. You can contact REcreative if you have any questions about this.
By using the REcreative website, you are considered to have accepted the REcreative terms and conditions, which include the following:
- Any work or content you upload to the site (your “content”) must not contain obscene or defamatory material.
- You declare to us that your content will not infringe the intellectual property rights or any other rights of a third party (anyone other than you).
- You will ensure that if you do use material that belongs to someone else you will have all necessary copyright permissions from that person or organisation before you submit it to the REcreative website.
- You accept that any content you submit to REcreative may be displayed as part of the REcreative website and images may be used in online and offline promotional material.
A note on Copyright and Intellectual Property Rights
What is intellectual property? Basically, intellectual property refers to a creation of the mind that has been written down, recorded, videoed, drawn, sketched or recorded in some other permanent form. Intellectual property rights can be found in written works, visual works, music, symbols, names, images and designs. There are different types of intellectual property rights that exist in these types of works, including "copyright" and "trademarks". It is something original that you have come up with and that is yours, which means you can't have copied it. Respecting someone else’s intellectual property rights then, means not using or copying their work without their permission and if they are happy for you to use their work, making sure you say that it is theirs and not yours.
SLG is committed to respecting the intellectual property rights of others. We have therefore taken all reasonable efforts to ensure that the reproduction of all content on these pages (including but not restricted to images, text and audio), is done with the consent of the intellectual property right owners.
The contents of this website can be viewed for your enjoyment and you may freely access and download the contents on a temporary basis for the sole purposes of viewing, interacting or listening to them. However, there are a number of things you cannot do with any of the content featured on REcreative. These prohibited acts include:
- Using any material from the website for public performance or display
- Leasing or lending of any material obtained or derived from the website
- Reproducing any material from the website in any form whatsoever, including without limitation, the extraction and/or storage in any form or the inclusion in any other computer program or work
- Any reproduction whatsoever of details, alterations and adaptations of materials found on the website
- Any other use of the website that we tell you is prohibited
Please note that intellectual property rights in all content comprising or contained within this website remains with South London Gallery and other contributing intellectual property right owners. It is your responsibility to obtain permission from intellectual property right holders or their agents before a reproduction of works or any other content is made. Otherwise, this may constitute an infringement of intellectual property rights.
If you wish to reproduce any images of works featured in this website, you must first contact REcreative who will be able to advise you.
