Flies

The act of creating my flies is equal to the outcome. I enjoy spending much time creating them. When I can completely focus on making the right amount of heads and bodies and the right amount of wings and legs-50 at a time, then the next lot, then the next ... laid out like an army, completely and wholly consuming your surroundings, silently and very definitely.

This video piece that accompanies ’The flies,’ displays a close up shot of my hands, delicately moulding the plasticine to create each fly, occasionally pausing to allow the maker to admire their work.

The obsessive nature of my work can draw comparisons with artist Yayoi Kusama, whose extensive body of work explores themes of intense repetition.
