The idea of social anxiety is present throughout my work, and the frustration caused by this is shown in ‘The Flies’.
The act of obsessively creating my flies in there many rows and many columns is creating a structure and enforcing a work ethic for works sake. Almost a satire of the stereotype of education/work systems. This obsession is my way of making sense of what is incomprehensible to me.

The act of creating my flies is equal to the outcome. I enjoy spending much time creating them. When I can completely focus on making the right amount of heads and bodies and the right amount of wings and legs-50 at a time, then the next lot, then the next ... laid out like an army...
